Tahirih Justice Center is a national nonprofit organization advocating for immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. They are currently seeking a Legal Intern for Summer 2026 to join their team in Houston, TX.

Under the supervision of an attorney, the Legal Intern will gain hands-on experience in public interest law, assisting with client communication, legal writing, and case management. This role is ideal for law students committed to advocating for courageous immigrant women and children.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will support the legal team through the following activities:

• Client Interaction: Communicate with and interview clients under attorney supervision.
• Legal Drafting: Draft legal documents such as client declarations, cover letters, and briefs.
• Research: Perform legal and country conditions research.
• Case Management: Maintain and update information in electronic case management systems and physical files.
• Advocacy: Opportunities may arise to participate in community outreach and public policy work.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and meet the following requirements:

• Education: Current enrollment in law school is required.
• Skills: Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Attributes: Must be detail-oriented, organized, and sensitive to working with trauma survivors.
• Language: Language skills are highly desired, particularly Spanish.
• Experience: Previous experience in Immigration law is helpful but not required.

Work Schedule & Benefits
