The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is currently seeking a motivated Disaster Risk Knowledge Intern to join its Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Established to coordinate global efforts in disaster reduction, UNDRR guides the implementation of the Sendai Framework (2015-2030). This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on locally-led Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives, including the flagship "Making Cities Resilient 2030" project. Detailed Role & Key Responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of the Regional Office, the intern will work full-time (40 hours per week). Responsibilities are diverse and include:

1. Project Implementation & Urban Resilience

  • Support the implementation of interventions related to locally-led DRR initiatives.
  • Focus specifically on the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) project and other related urban resilience efforts.

2. Research, Data & Policy

  • Literature Review: Support project proposals by ensuring gender and disability inclusion are integrated into urban resilience planning.
  • Data Tracking: Develop data and tools to track the progress of the locally-led DRR portfolio.
  • Drafting: Assist in writing concept notes, policy briefs, and success stories related to the project.

3. Communications & Outreach

  • Assist in developing communication products to showcase the impact of the projects.
  • Create content including print publications, web stories, e-newsletters, press kits, social media posts, and infographics.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for this competitive UN internship, applicants must meet specific academic and skill requirements:

1. Educational Status

Applicants must be pursuing studies in Social Science, Statistics, Disaster Risk Management, Communication, or a related field. You must meet one of the following:

  • Enrolled in a Graduate School Programme (Master’s or higher).
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.
  • Have recently graduated with a relevant university degree.
