The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) invites applications from eligible students for its prestigious Summer Placement Program 2026. This program offers a unique opportunity for Indian students to expose themselves to an actual central banking environment.
Selected interns will undertake projects on issues relevant to the Central Bank under the guidance of experts and professionals. This is a highly competitive program, with a maximum of 125 students selected annually from across the country.
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the 2026 Summer Placement, candidates must meet the following specific academic criteria:
1. Academic Status
Students must be currently pursuing one of the following courses from a reputed institute/college located in India:
Post-Graduate Courses
Integrated Five-Year Courses in Management, Statistics, Law, Commerce, Economics, Econometrics, Banking, or Finance.
Three-Year Full-Time Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
2. Year of Study (Crucial)
Only students currently in the penultimate year of their course can apply. This means if you are in the 2nd year of a 3-year course, or 4th year of a 5-year course, you are eligible.
Key Benefits & Facilities
Stipend: Summer trainees are eligible to receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000.
Travel Allowance: Selected outstation candidates will be reimbursed AC II Tier return fare by rail (or equivalent) from their institute to the placement centre.
Project Experience: Gain hands-on experience working on live projects within India's central bank.
Note: Outstation trainees will be required to make their own accommodation arrangements.
Selection Process & Timeline
The selection process is rigorous and based on the strength of the application:
Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their application details.
Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in January / February 2026 at the respective RBI Control Offices.
Final Results: Names of selected students will be communicated in February / March 2026.
Internship Period: The placement normally runs for a maximum of three months between April to July 2026.

Q: Can I apply if I am in my final year? A: No. Only students in their penultimate year (second-to-last year) are eligible.
Q: Will RBI provide accommodation? A: No. While outstation candidates get travel reimbursement, they must arrange their own accommodation.
Q: Can I apply for the Mumbai centre if my college is in Delhi? A: No. You can only apply for the centre corresponding to your college's location. In this case, you must apply for the New Delhi centre.
