Pinterest is looking for a unique breed of intern: the UX Engineer. If you are a graduate student who sits comfortably at the intersection of Design and Front-End Engineering, this is your role.

As a UX Engineer Intern, you will bridge the gap between pixel-perfect design and performant code. You will partner with mentors across product, design, and data to prototype ideas, contribute to the Pinterest Design System, and ship interfaces that delight millions of "Pinners" worldwide.

Detailed Role & Key Responsibilities

This role requires "ownership." You won't just be fixing bugs; you will be executing scoped technical tasks end-to-end.

1. Bridging Design & Code

• Prototyping: Translate research and design concepts into polished, performant interfaces.
• Design Systems: Contribute code to the design system that other engineers will use.
• Collaboration: Act as the translator and bridge between the creative design teams and the technical engineering teams.

2. Engineering Excellence

• Execution: Deliver code that is well-documented, tested, and operable.
• Quality: Uplevel the quality of the Pinner experience by solving complex user-experience problems.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

This position has specific academic and location requirements. It is distinct from Pinterest's remote roles.

1. Academic Status (Strict)

• Degree Level: You must be currently enrolled in a Master's program (Computer Science, HCI, Statistics, Psychology, or related fields).
• Graduation Window: You must be on track to obtain your Master’s by 2027.
• Experience: Previous Software Engineering internships are required.

2. Technical Skills

• Proficiency: Strong skills in dynamic programming languages. The stack includes JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Python, Java, C++, and Go.
• Passion: A demonstrated passion for solving UX problems.

3. Location & Hybrid Work

• Location: San Francisco, CA.
• Hybrid Policy: Unlike other Pinterest roles, this role requires in-person collaboration. You must live within a commutable distance to the SF office to attend 1-2 times per week.
