The County of Lake is currently seeking an Extra Help Legal Intern to assist within the office of the County Counsel, District Attorney, or Public Defender. This role involves performing professional legal work and legal research under the direct supervision of licensed attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Intern will be responsible for the following duties:

• Legal Work: Learn and perform a wide variety of professional legal work and legal research.
• Trial Prep: Assist in the preparation of trial briefs.
• Supervision: Work under the direction of licensed attorneys.
• Training: Receive training in various County department functions and procedures.
• General Duties: Perform related duties as assigned.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following strict requirements to be considered:

• Education: Must be enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of law school in good academic standing OR have graduated from law school (subject to State Bar rules).
• License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.
• Substitution: Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted in certain cases.
