The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is looking for a versatile intern to join their Evaluation Office (EOU) in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a 6-month, office-based internship starting in early 2026.

This is not a single-focus role. It is a dynamic position that sits at the heart of the Evaluation Office—the team responsible for assessing whether UNEP's global environmental projects are actually working. Detailed Role & Key Responsibilities

As an intern in the Evaluation Office, you will wear multiple hats. Your responsibilities are divided into four key pillars:

1. Administrative & Logistics Support

You will ensure the office runs smoothly, handling the essential operations that keep the UN moving.

  • IT & Security: Support record keeping for official equipment, manage security gate passes for visitors, and identify ICT needs.
  • Logistics: Coordinate appointments for evaluators to conduct interviews and book meeting rooms for high-level staff.

2. Evaluation Function Support

  • Report Management: Ensure evaluation reports are correctly formatted, filed in SharePoint, and ready for public release.
  • Dissemination: specific task of sending finalized reports to managers and stakeholders.

3. Data Management (Tech Focus)

  • Analysis: Conduct rigorous data quality checks and translate data results into written reports for management.

4. Communications & Outreach

  • Public Disclosure: Upload finalized reports to the UNEP repository and UNEG database.
  • Content Creation: Assist in producing videos, briefs, and social media posts to publicize the work of the Evaluation Office.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

UNEP is looking for a highly organized individual with a background in development or policy.

1. Educational Background

  • Fields of Study: Undergraduate studies in Environmental Management, Development Studies, or International Policy.
