The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Medicaid Policy Intern to join their Medicaid and Long-Term Care team for the Summer of 2026. This position is based in Lincoln, NE and operates on a hybrid schedule.

Detailed Role & Key Responsibilities
As a Medicaid Policy Intern, you will not just be in the office; you will be observing the legislative process in action. Key responsibilities include:
1. Legislative Monitoring
You will act as the eyes and ears of the department during the legislative session.
Observation: Observe legislative hearings, floor debates, and committee meetings related to health and human services.
Tracking: Assist with bill tracking, summarizing legislation, and compiling background information for the policy team.
2. Policy Implementation & Research
Implementation: Support the team in planning and implementing new Medicaid policy initiatives based on passed legislation.
Research: Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making and policy updates.
3. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Briefings: Assist in preparing briefing materials, presentations, and internal communications.
Collaboration: Participate in meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.

1. Educational Status
Current Students: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college/university (two-to-four-year institution).

Coursework in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
