As a 3rd Year Intern, you are viewed as a Pharmacist-in-Training. You will not just be counting pills; you will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build your aptitude in clinical counseling, patient safety, and pharmacy leadership, ultimately preparing you for licensure.
Detailed Role & Key Responsibilities
This role carries significant responsibility, as P3 interns are often granted more authority under state law than early-year students. Your daily duties will include:
1. Clinical Services & Patient Care
You will be the bridge between the patient and the medication.
Counseling: Offer counseling, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Immunizations: Prepare and administer vaccines (where permissible by law and certification), and educate patients on the importance of vaccinations.
Provider Interaction: Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call doctors to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
2. Workflow & Operations
Stations: Rotate through all pharmacy workstations (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
Inventory: Manage inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and putting away medication deliveries.
Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to controlled substance dispensing laws and HIPAA regulations.
3. Leadership & Mentorship
Coaching: As a senior intern, you will provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to newer pharmacy team members.
Problem Solving: Demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating complex patient problems.

CVS Health requires candidates to be physically active and academically qualified. Requirements include:
1. Educational Status

2. Licensure & Certification
Intern License: Must possess (or be in the process of obtaining) a valid Intern Licensure in Colorado.
Immunization: Ability to become immunization certified is highly preferred.
