The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies, is hiring a remote intern to support their flagship initiative: AI for Good.

The "AI for Good" series is the leading action-oriented, global, and inclusive United Nations platform on AI. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work from home while contributing to global conversations on how Artificial Intelligence and Robotics can solve humanity's greatest challenges. You will work within the Strategic Engagement Department (SED), the team responsible for pioneering emerging technology initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the AI and Robotics Programme Officer, you will assist in the planning and execution of high-profile events. This is an operational and research-heavy role.

1. Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research on emerging trends in AI and Robotics.
  • Prepare internal updates to keep the team informed on the latest tech developments.

2. Event Management & Logistics

  • Support the preparation, planning, and promotion of AI and robotics programs.
  • Create timelines, checklists, and "run-of-show" documents for events.
  • Manage logistical information for participants and respond to attendee inquiries.

3. Stakeholder Communication

  • Draft correspondence and track responses.
  • Maintain stakeholder lists to ensure the right people are in the room (virtually or physically).

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

The ITU has strict eligibility rules for its internship program. No prior work experience is required, making this perfect for students.

1. Academic Status

  • Enrollment: You must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Post-graduate program.
  • Recent Grads: You are also eligible if you graduated within six months prior to the start of the internship.
  • Field of Study: Marketing, Communication, Business Administration, International Relations, or related fields.

2. Age & Citizenship

  • Age: Must be under 30 years of age (Exceptions considered for Ph.D. students).
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a Member State of ITU (India is a member state).

3. Skills & Language

  • Language: Excellent written and spoken English is essential. (French is an asset).
  • Tech Interest: Must demonstrate a genuine interest in AI and its potential for societal impact.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in an international environment.

Important: Financial Information

This is an UNPAID internship.

  • Remuneration: $0 (Non-remunerated).
  • Expenses: All costs related to travel (if any), accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
  • Insurance: Interns are responsible for their own mandatory medical insurance.
