The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently seeking a motivated intern to support the International Environmental Guardianship (IEG) and the innovative 8 Billion Hour Pledge. Based in New York, this internship is part of UNDP’s Nature, Climate Change, Energy, and Waste Hub, which focuses on nature-based solutions and indigenous leadership.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of climate finance, biodiversity credit markets, and community empowerment. The intern will assist in organizing high-level international events (like COP30 and G20), managing funding arrangements, and coordinating with global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will play a critical support role in three main areas:

  • IEG Support: Assist in planning international workshops, managing funding arrangements (budget planning, tracking), and maintaining stakeholder communications.
  • 8 Billion Hour Pledge: Help organize consultations and contribute to data collection and analysis of community-led actions.
  • Project Coordination: Support day-to-day activities of the Nature Hub, including webinar preparation and document management.

Who Should Apply?

UNDP is looking for candidates who are passionate about sustainable development and meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a graduate school programme (Masters or higher) OR have graduated within the last year. Preferred fields include International Development, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and report drafting skills are required. Experience in social media, program management, or data analysis is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework is an advantage.
  • Language: Fluency in English is mandatory.
